Introducing Dewi the daxi-jack
This is Dewi, he is a 13 week old daxi-jack puppy. His mum a jack-russell and his dad is a dachshund. I decided to write a blog about all the fun things we get up to and Dewi’s journey as he grows. I am a student and decided it was the perfect time to get a puppy so I would be at home to train him and keep him company most of the time.
I was very nervous at first, thinking of all the negatives I possibly could. What if he barks and annoys the neighbours? What if he doesn’t like living in a small house? What if I can’t train him? However after extensive reading about different breeds I was confident Dewi the Daxi-jack was the perfect dog for us!
So far he is nearly fully house trained using a crate and a puppy pen, he has learnt to climb the stairs (unfortunately) and can climb into bed with us, and loves morning cuddles, sneaking under the duvet! What a clever boy! He has learnt to stop waking me up 3 times a night by crying and howling the house down (now he only does it once a night). He can do sit, fetch and gives the ball back.. nearly every time, he’s playful and sometimes likes to have fun hiding the ball away from me. His favourite toy is a squeaky squirrel, he LOVES it! He will play with it for hours and gets fiesty if you try to take it off him, the squirrel has lost both ears and is getting balder by the day! He’s learnt how to walk on the lead, although isn’t a great lover of the cold weather! This snow has made his paws cold! So he’s got a little hoodie to keep him warm! He walks well off the lead as well, staying right by my heels, not sure how long this will last as he gets more confident.
Dewi has had adventures to pantomimes, the beach and trips to watch rugby and everybody loves him! I look forward to sharing more of his adventures, his experiences and character as he grows!!
